Additional Cross Bones: A Novel (Temperance Brennan Novels) Information

'Death by self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head' is the on-scene assessment, but the victim's relatives are adamant in their rejection of suicide as an explanation. Discovered in a closet, a full week after death, the body is barely recognisable. Extreme heat has accelerated decomposition, and Dr Temperance Brennan's forensic expertise is required. Advanced putrefaction has made it virtually impossible to determine the trajectory of the bullet. But just as Tempe is attempting to make sense of the fracture patterning, an unknown man slips her a photograph of a skeleton, telling her it holds the answer to the victim's death...Detective Andrew Ryan is also on the case and, as his relationship with Tempe heats up, together they follow the trail of clues all the way to Israel. In the Holy Land, with the help of Jacob Drum, a biblical archaeologist and old friend, Tempe becomes involved in an international mystery as old as Jesus, a mystery that could rewrite 2000 years of religious history. Could one of the tombs really be Christ's last resting place? And are the bones in the ancient ossuary the last remnants of James, the brother of Jesus, as its inscription claims? But the further Tempe probes into the identity of the ancient skeleton, the more she seems to be putting herself in danger...

What Customers Say About Cross Bones: A Novel (Temperance Brennan Novels):

This was the first Reichs book I read and I was quickly drawn in I was fascinated by the facts mixed in with the fictional tales it really made it come to life

Did he not really rise from the dead. It does get a bit mentally challenging, however, as Reichs (herself a forensic anthropologist) weaves an intricate story with lots of scientific details. Temperence Brennan stumbles across a skeleton that may just change two of the world's foremost religions.

I'm a huge fan of the TV show BONES, and was initially a bit disappointed that the Brennan of the book is significantly different from the Emily Dechanel's character. As the reader, I occassionally had to look back to re-orient myself as to what exactly was going on. However, the book Brennan is engaging and entertaining in her own right, and for the most part the book moves quickly and is fun to read.

Dr. And if she is not careful, SHE may end up a skeleton.CROSS BONES is the first Kathy Reichs book that I have read. Overall, I enjoyed it, and look forward to reading others in the series.

Did Jesus have a family. Her world is turned upside down as she tracks this bizarre case from Canada all the way to Israel.

There's speculation that the skeleton could be that of Jesus himself.Sound a little far fetched. They're together, they're an item, they still work together and they do it well. This is probably the most cohesive and entertaining Tempe Brennan novel since Fatal Voyage. And gone are the quasi-teenaged approach in regards to how Tempe handles her relationship with Ryan.A murdered orthodox Jew turns up in Montreal, shot execution style. No more 'I'm too proud to ask Ryan what's really on his mind.' infantile handling of their relationship. A photo showing an old skeleton that was unearthed in Israel. What makes the skeleton so special.

Robin Cook's latest book, Intervention, had the same type of plot profile, only this book was done to much better effect. No more seemingly unrelated family dramas for Tempe in this book. Even the latest Robin Cook book has a similar theme: an ancient finding shrouded in mystery that could turn long standing modern religious dogma on its ear.

A strange man gives her a photo that was supposedly given to him by the deceased. The James ossuary in Israel, the tombs at Massada, etc, etc. This book is very reminiscent of something that would be written by a James Rollins or Dan Brown.

It doesn't suffer from the odd dialogue or sometimes cumbersome or confusing plots. Maybe at first glance, but this plot is based on actual facts and events.

Those are a few of the things that have kept the past few Tempe books from really shining; the fact that they've often deviated from the main plot with sub plots (usually of a personal or familial nature) that have nothing to do with the overall story of the book and make the novel seem disjointed.Very concise, very entertaining and full of interesting facts about early Christian religion and Israeli history. How does this fall into Tempe's lap.

A very special skeleton that supposedly has ties to the murder victim.

I had to really struggle to remember the bible teachings of my youth to follow some of what was going on. The religious tones in this book were a little more than my agnostic mind could manage. I like the Temperance Brennan novels more when they are set in the south, than when they are set in Canada. I enjoy them less when the character travels to foreign lands.

I still think that. I've even gotten somewhat used to reading about her cutting up dead people's bones and sifting thru their body parts. Just ran across her listing of books while browsing thru Amazon's titles.

In the last week, or so, I have read 8 of her books, and have four to go in this series. I dont think I agree with much that was written in this book about Jesus, but it was a good and interesting read. I find her mysteries good and compelling.

Never watched the TV show "Bones" which I am told was based on this author. So I downloaded all 12 of her books to my Kindle. Now on to the next 4 books.

I reviewed her first book, and said it was "Disturbing". But I especially like the idea of an author actually working at what she writes about.
